Arts and Education
The ongoing Community Arts And Education Program brings conservation
educators as well as writers, musicians, and other arts and
conservation based events to Lincoln County. The program serves
as both an outreach tool as well as one for community education
purposes. This past spring we organized a community forum with
former Chief of the US Forest Service, Mike Dombeck, in Lincoln
County. Several other events are scheduled throughout the summer
and fall, including the 2nd Annual Wilderness Festival. It is
from this location that we intend to base and hold future events and
educational presentations. This year, if appropriate funding is
secured, we are committed to strengthening our Conservation Education
Program as not only a more effective outreach tool, but also to more
effectively educate our constituency in matters regarding increased
emphasis on technical aspects of grassroots conservation advocacy, such
as workshops in wildfire ecology, identifying forest habitat types and
old growth indicators.
