Lincoln County Grows

Are you a resident of Lincoln County?

You know there are some jobs that are tremendously important but feel thankless at times.  I am beginning to believe that one of those jobs is serving on the County Planning Board.  How do you face rapid development, personal property rights, natural resource concerns, wildlife habitat, public access and make everyone happy?
I’m not sure you can, but the best you can do is listen to what people are saying and try to find a middle ground.  Unfortunately in the public opinion world it is often the nay-sayers who speak loudest, as is currently the case in the world of planning in Lincoln County.  The planning board is composed of three representatives from Troy, Libby and Eureka to create a nine-person board that is facing a tremendously difficult task of deciding how to guide development in Lincoln County over the next five years.  They are interested in the opinions of the citizens of Lincoln County and if you would like to know more about what they do or are concerned about growth and development in Lincoln County you should let them know.

There are a number of ways your voice can be heard:
  • Take a public opinion survey on the web at http://www.lincolncountymt.us/Planning/Planningsurvey.htm
  • You can email the planning board at planningboard@libby.org
  • You can attend a planning board meeting every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the County courthouse in Libby.
  • Write them a letter and send it to:
    Attn: Planning Department
    Lincoln County Courthouse
    512 California Ave
    Libby, MT  59923
  • Or attend the next public hearing to discuss growth policies and neighborhood planning, keep your eyes out for upcoming meetings this winter.
Please take the time to share with them your vision for Lincoln County.  Why do we choose to live here and how do we want it to look 10 years, 15 years from now?

Now is the time to speak up!
